November 13, 2019, Tamuning, Guam- A jury found Jeffrey Guerrero Cruz guilty of sexually assaulting an underage victim late yesterday afternoon.
Multiple victims ranging between 4 years-old and 11 years-old at the time of the incidents all testified at trial that the defendant touched them inappropriately between 2015 and 2018. Cruz was found guilty of two counts of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct for inappropriate sexual contact with the 8-year-old victim. He was acquitted of the remaining charges.
“The community can rest a little easier knowing that a predator has been identified,” said Prosecutor Sean Brown. “While the People were hoping for convictions across the board in this case, justice was obtained for one of the victims, and the defendant will now have to register as a sex offender.”
The defendant faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 40 years imprisoned at the Department of Corrections. His sentencing is scheduled for January 9, 2020, before Judge Lamorena.
