Contract for Interim Forensic Pathologist Signed

March 25, 2019, Tamuning, Guam- A contract to perform forensic pathology services was signed late Friday afternoon and has been submitted to the Department of Administration for processing.

A forensic pathologist is expected to fly in this weekend to perform autopsies where foul play is suspected as manner of death. All other autopsies will continue to be performed by the pathologist who has an existing contract with the Post Mortem Commission.

“I am both relieved and grateful we have this in place. We want to make sure the families who have lost loved ones have closure and peace. A forensic pathologist will play an important role in making sure that they also receive justice,” said Attorney General Leevin T. Camacho.

The forensic pathologists are based out of Hawaii will fly to Guam on an as-needed basis to conduct forensic autopsies at a rate of $5000 per examination. Airfare and lodging and travel allotment are additional costs enumerated within the contract.
