AJ Muna Toves Guilty for Robbing Harmon Business

November 29, 2022 – Tamuning, Guam- AJ Muna Toves has been convicted by a jury of his peers of Second Degree Robbery as a Second Degree Felony with a Special Allegation for the Possession or Use of a Deadly Weapon in the Commission of a Felony.

In July, the 30-year-old defendant entered a check cashing service business in Harmon wearing a hockey style mask and demanded employees to gather cash from the register and put it in a bag. The employees immediately ran to the manager’s office, locked themselves in the room and called law enforcement authorities, later telling officers they thought they heard a single gunshot.

The defendant took off in a Nissan truck before authorities arrived at the scene of the crime. He led officers on a chase through Dededo. The defendant was able to elude officers on foot, but left behind his mask, firearm, and identification card in the truck. He was apprehended about a week later when officers responded to a removal request at a motel.

Prosecuting Attorney Leonardo M. Rapadas said, “The jury was able to see through the defendant’s mask and find him guilty. The hard work of the Guam Police Department and prosecution staff secured justice for the victims in this case.”

Toves will be sentenced by Judge Alberto E. Tolentino on February 23, 2023. He faces 5-10 years confinement at the Department of Corrections for the robbery conviction, and a range of 5-25 years for the special allegation enhancement.
