After trial, jury finds Brandon Michael Acosta guilty of murder

July 23, 2020, Tamuning, Guam- A jury found Brandon Michael Acosta guilty today for the death of Timicca Nauta, a young girl who he sexually assaulted and murdered.

“We cannot bring Ms. Nauta back to her family, but we hope that the close of this case and upcoming sentencing will aid in the road to peace and recovery for the family,” said Prosecuting Attorney Lenny Rapadas.

The defendant confessed that he was responsible for the death of Nauta to an inmate while he was in custody for a string of burglaries that took place days prior around the same area where Nauta lived. He told Guam police officers that he blamed his drug use for the “mistake” of killing her. During trial, witnesses related to the defendant testified that the defendant described the scene of the murder in such a way that only someone with first-hand knowledge would know.

The jury found the defendant guilty for a slew of charges, including aggravated murder, murder, manslaughter, home invasion, criminal sexual conduct, burglary, and aggravated assault.

The defendant faces life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. He will be sentenced on August 12, 2020.

Prosecutor Woodrow Pengelly was co-chair to Prosecutor Rapadas throughout trial.
